The Isenberg Family
Donor
Roy and Bonnie Isenberg lived in Norman, Oklahoma for over forty years. They both moved here to attend the University of Oklahoma. They met when Roy interviewed Bonnie for a job. She didn't get it but she insisted on a date. Not long after that they were married in a small ceremony at Hillel in 1973. Bonnie served on the Hillel board in the 1990s, taught young children and adults in the Oklahoma school system for thirty years, eventually being recognized as the state’s first Adult Education Teacher of the Year in 2003. Roy was a top geriatric psychologist in Oklahoma City for forty years. They had a son, Jeremy, who attended Hillel Sunday school, served as Hillel’s first development intern and now serves on its Board of Directors while living in Maryland. Throughout their time in Oklahoma, Hillel served as the Isenbergs’ sanctuary, their Jewish community and a place to celebrate family milestones.
